My jaw is starting to hurt. Which will lead to my head hurting. I can feel the stress rising. I felt the need to immediately log onto my blog & let those frustrations out!
I am DRA testing my kids right now. For those reading who are non-teachers or even above 3rd grade may not know what DRA is...it's testing the kid's reading levels. #1: the kits we have STINK! The stories are boring & old...#2: the kits are not organized (read my ::sigh:: post & you'll see how I feel about things being unorganized!) #3: why does this matter anyway? We're just teaching reading so they can pass the TAKS test, right? The state & districts really need to get on the same page in deciding what & how we're going to teach! It would be amazing to me if I could find out my kid's DRA level then do guided reading & teach reading that way. That would be LOVELY! But nooooooooo! I have to do that ON TOP of doing teaching reading in a way to prepare my kids for the test....
As I sit here & frantically type away my frustrations, using the backspace button about every other word, another class feels the need to stomp down the hall & disrupt us all...Why?!!! Why can't you teach your class hallway procedures like everybody else does?! Oh, I forgot...those rules don't apply to you...
Maybe all this built up frustration is caused by a phone call I got this morning. I got angry & unfortunately couldn't totally express that anger in front of the kids. Excuse me, but you have been told from the beginning of the year that your clock is faster than anybody else's. So when you call me & my clock says I'm 2 minutes late then I'm 2 minutes late. What's the big deal? We'll get there & do what we have to do. If that's not what you want me to do then don't even give me an option. Tell me to go later, but don't be rude about it. What's sad is this rudeness is also said to the kids...not fair! They're 8! Sometimes they don't know!
Phew...I feel somewhat better...the jaw has loosened up a little. Maybe I can breath now.
No more growling...
